HiHo, Wadsworth, and Masthead Breweries all to celebrate One Year Anniversaries this month

Two thousand Seventeen was a banner year for new breweries in Northeast Ohio.  In the state overall, there were close to 80 new breweries for the year, with close to 25 in Northeast Ohio alone.  Though it may hard to believe, some of these newcomers are already getting ready to celebrate their first anniversary.  A pair of suburban breweries launched on the same day last year, January 6th, and a downtown Cleveland brewery launched in late January.

HiHO Brewing Company in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio will celebrate their 1st Anniversary this coming weekend with food trucks, live music, and exclusive beer tappings, including some firkin variations on two of their most popular beers.

On Friday the 5th, they’ll have The Pierogi Lady at 5pm and DJ Ben H spinning records at 7pm; on Saturday the 6th they’ll have That Hawaiian Guy’s BBQ at 5pm, and Youngest Sons live at 6pm, and on Sunday the 7th from 12-5 they’ll have a special HiHo Brunch menu and JD & Ken live at 1pm. Exclusive beers will be tapped both Friday and Saturday.

HiHo has already expanded in year one, adding additional fermenters, and is planning on starting a Barrel Aging program in Year Two.

Wadsworth Brewing Company will celebrate their 1st Anniversary with a special Customer Appreciation Event on January 6th and 7th. On the 6th, you can keep the pint — literally…. For every pint you order they’d like you to feel free to “steal” the WBC logo’d pint glass. They’ll have a special anniversary bourbon and maple barrel-aged Wee Heavy on tap.

On the 7th they’ll have musicians in the taproom all day. Swing by and check out this highly underrated brewery from the amazing Class of 2017.  The brewery is adding a larger mash tun and hopes to start churning out some higher ABV beers in the new year.

Masthead Brewing in downtown Cleveland is picking up steam as year one comes to a close.  The Superior Avenue brewery launched with a pretty basic lineup of beers named after the style, rather than any fancy craft beer names.  They had an IPA, Wit, Coffee Stout, and a handful of others when they launched late in January of 2017. But about mid-year they started to hit their stride with the release of a bourbon barrel aged series called Underverse that was extremely well received, followed by their first New England IPA’s on draft and in caans, Fleeb Juice, and A Series Of Tubes, which almost instantly sold out. Their latest, Citra Vice, sold out by 3:30pm the day of the release.

The brewery will celebrate their anniversary on Saturday January 27th.  Special draft and canned releases are being planned.
