About

Beer. It’s what we do.

Q: Who are we?

A: We are average every day Joe’s, just like you, who happen to have a strong appreciation for craft beer.  We are home brewers.  We are supporters of the craft beer community.  We are Northeast Ohioans who love the area we grew up in.  We want to see it thrive.  We have witnessed the explosion of the craft beer scene over the last six to eight years.  We have watched it go from 1,000 breweries, to 2,100, to 3,000, to 4,500, to now over 6,000 nationwide.  We have watched incredible beer scenes explode in cities/states like Portland, San Diego, Denver, Grand Rapids, Asheville, and Vermont.  We think Ohio is poised to become the next great beer scene.  Why should California, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Michigan, and Vermont have all the fun?

Ohio is the fifth largest state in terms of consumption of craft beer.  The Cincinnati scene has exploded with great breweries like Rheingiest, MadTree, FiftyWest, Christian Moerlein and more making their mark on the craft beer world.  Columbus is blowing up with the likes of Columbus Brewing, Seventh Son, Wolf’s Ridge, Rockmill, Hoof Hearted, and more gaining a national following.  We think Northeast Ohio is on the cusp of something big too.  Great, award winning breweries already exist here, like Great Lakes Brewing Company, Fat Head’s, Brew Kettle, Thirsty Dog, and Hoppin’ Frog.  We think there are more diamonds in the rough in our area that are out there, just waiting to be explored.

Q: What is our mission?

A: We want to get you out of the house, out of your town, and get you to explore.  Summit County recently launched the second “beer trail” of its kind in the state of Ohio. You can pick up a passport at any one of 14 breweries in the greater Summit, Stark, Portgage, and Medina county areas, and then explore them over the next 12 months and get a T-shirt saying you completed the trail. We think that’s a great start.

Our area is begging to be explored.  There are new breweries popping up every day, and some of them are pumping out some killer brews.  Places off the beaten path like R. Shea, Royal Docks, HiHo, Willoughby Brewing, and many more, are making great libations and folks are starting to take notice.  Smaller communities like Wadsworth and Bolivar have gotten in on the act. Breweries opened in 2017 in towns and cities like Minerva, Avon, Lorain, Sandusky, Warren, Youngstown, and Barberton.  It’s not just the big cities like Cleveland, Akron, and Canton that are taking advantage of the boom in craft beer.

We want to expose you to the newest and greatest breweries opening in our area. We are huge supporters of small business and believe these new breweries are worthy of your time and dollar.  We want to get you off your couch and we want you to head out and explore.  Instead of going to your local grocery store and buying a six or twelve pack of something familiar, we want you to get in your car (be responsible and take a designated driver, of course), and go try a flight at a place a few towns over from you that you might not have ever known existed, and maybe to buy a growler or a t-shirt while you are there.  We want you to talk to the brewers, and find out their inspiration for the beers they’ve handcrafted and painstakingly brewed.

We want to you bring you closer to those brewers and owner/operators with semi-weekly or monthly in depth interviews and features. We want you to know them, know what makes them tick, what inspired them to take the deep dive into the world of brewery ownership.

Follow us on Social Media, and then come along for the ride, and find out why Northeast Ohio just might be the next great scene in Craft Beer.
