About Us
The Flight Crew, formerly the Mahoning Valley Flight Crew, traces its roots back to 2009, when we began simply as six neighbors with a shared love of beer. Like most beer fans, we came of age drinking mass market macro beer, but one year decided to expand our palettes. We gathered on back patios at each others houses with a simple goal of sampling 100 craft beers in the summer of 2009. Enjoying each other's company, and the journey of discovery of new flavors, we soon began meeting weekly to try new brews. Since those early days, we've sampled more than 5,000 craft brews from all 50 states and dozens of countries.
Now we're on a mission to uncover the best craft beer breweries, bars, and distributors in our home base of the Mahoning Valley, into the greater Northeast Ohio region, and beyond/ Current Flight Crew members are Jason Jugenheimer, Dave Shively, Brian Long, Roger Gillespie, Joe Sanfilippo, and Rob Tittel. We've intervewed dozens of area breweries and had our articles and reviews featured in The Youngstown Vindicator, The Canton Repository, and The Youngstown Business Journal. Now we've found our new home here on Northeast Ohio Craft Brewery News, and we couldn't be more excited. We believe strongly that Beer Builds Community.
